Ugot Bruncherie served its last brunch on 31 July 2026 after 11 years in the Eixample

Ugot Bruncherie, the all-day brunch spot at Carrer de Viladomat 138 in la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, served its last brunch on 31 July 2026. The goodbye came in a single Instagram post from @ugotbcn on 22 July: 'Después de 11 años inolvidables, ha llegado el momento de despedirnos. Gracias por formar parte de nuestra historia. Estaremos abiertos hasta el 31 de julio por si os apetece venir a compartir un último brunch con nosotros' ('After 11 unforgettable years, it's time to say goodbye. Thank you for being part of our story. We'll be here until July 31 if you'd like to share one last brunch with us'). No reason was given, and none has surfaced since. Eleven years puts the opening around 2015, which lines up with the earliest coverage we could find: Le Cool Barcelona had the cafe at a little over two years old in March 2017.

It was Adi Nachson's place from the start. Time Out's review describes the Israeli owner filling an old warehouse with a dishware collection she'd gathered over the years, a restored floor and a mix of antique furniture, and the name was hers too: 'ugot' means cakes in Hebrew. 'Este es el local que quería desde que tenía quince años' ('this is the place I'd wanted since I was fifteen'), she told Time Out back in January 2016. The kitchen did creative Mediterranean brunch all day: a full shakshuka section, eggs Benedict (three versions on the final menu, though Time Out's 2024 best-brunch list counted five and singled out the shredded-pork one), French toast, syrniki, artisan cakes and specialty coffee. Every day 9am to 4pm, walk-ins only.

It wasn't fading from the guides either. Time Out ranked it number 10 in that 2024 list of Barcelona's 20 best brunch spots, Barcelona Secreta kept it in its best-brunch roundup as an Eixample favourite, and it sat at number 16 of the 30 spots in our own Barcelona brunch cohort while it was open. Diners had it at 4.5 out of 5 on Google across more than 4,000 reviews, and 4.5 on TripAdvisor too.

What stands out is how quietly it went. We could not find a single local outlet that covered the closure. Time Out's listing page still shows the old opening hours, Barcelona Secreta hasn't updated its roundup, and a week after the last service ugotbruncherie.com was still online with daily hours, menu links and a cheerful 'Walk-ins only!', no closure notice anywhere. The Instagram post remains the only first-party statement. It fits a pattern Gastronomistas described in a 2024 piece on Barcelona restaurant closures: journalists, its author wrote, tend to lose track of the city's most discreet farewells. That's what this was: eleven years, one post, and a last Friday of brunch.
