L'Andreuenc in Sant Andreu retains Catalonia's top esmorzar de forquilla title for a second year
L'Andreuenc, a Sant Andreu de Palomar bar, has won the Lliga del Porc i la Forquilla for the second year running, with chef Juli Alcoriza's braised pork cheek and salt cod brandada also taking the new public-vote prize at the Lleida final on 27 September 2026.
L'Andreuenc, the Sant Andreu de Palomar bar known for its esmorzar de forquilla, has won the Lliga del Porc i la Forquilla for the second consecutive year. Chef Juli Alcoriza took the title at the final, held this past Sunday in Lleida as part of the Fira MOS-Sant Miquel, after four regional semifinals, one per province.
The winning plate was a mar i muntanya of braised pork cheek with salt cod brandada and a Santa Pau bean broth, served with the broth in a porró on the side. It also won the competition's new Special Popular Vote prize, decided by around sixty diners who tasted the finalists alongside the professional jury. Second place went to Jordi Mascort of Can Mascort in Quart (Girona) with a cassoleta de careta de porc, and third was split between Isidre Codina of Bar Lídia (Lleida) and Florin Breghe of Fonda Montserrat (Cambrils).
The Lliga del Porc i la Forquilla is run by the Grup de Sanejament Porcí Lleida and managed by Como Pomona, aiming to promote esmorzar de forquilla and the neighbourhood bars that keep it alive. Alcoriza said last year's win alone was enough to fill the restaurant, telling betevé the slowest breakfast service since then has still pulled in at least 30 people. The winning dish goes on L'Andreuenc's menu from next week.
