Koku Kitchen has opened its fourth Barcelona restaurant at Carrer de Milà i Fontanals 29, in Gràcia. Vinetur reports it opened on Tuesday 29 September 2026. The earlier ones are in the Gòtic, the Born and Sant Antoni, and the weekday lunch menu at the new place starts at 13.90 euros.

Irish founders, since 2014

Mark Liston and Ross O'Doherty, both Irish, founded Koku in 2014. Time Out Barcelona quotes O'Doherty saying they were the second ramen restaurant in the city, after Ramen-ya Hiro opened in 2013.

Gràcia means something to them. O'Doherty says they lived close by for many years and have always been fond of the area. He adds that it's very local, but plenty of people from elsewhere live there too, and the idea is to build a regular crowd beyond the visitors who fill the centre.

A two-storey corner near Plaça del Raspall

The new place takes two floors on one of Gràcia's quieter corners, in the block between Plaça del Raspall, Plaça del Gato Pérez and the Casa Agustí Atzeries, nicknamed the house of the devil.

Ramen, plus a long menu

The menu matches the Born and Sant Antoni restaurants and will change with the seasons. Ramen is still the backbone: eight broths with animal protein, tonkotsu-based (made from pork bones) unless the menu says otherwise. Around it sits a long list of dishes, including pad thai, yakisoba, char siu udon, Japanese curry, baos, gyozas and "japas", Asian-style tapas that lean towards Korean or Japanese fried chicken. Time Out also mentions a katsu sando. Vinetur says the Gràcia menu adds The Spice Bag, a dish born in Ireland, and that the pad thai comes in a gluten-free version.

The company says the noodles are made by hand every day, without preservatives, additives or artificial colourings.

Prices and customers

Time Out puts the weekday lunch menu between 13.90 and 16 euros depending on the options, and eating à la carte at around 25 to 30. Vinetur quotes the company as saying about 80% of its customers are from Barcelona, and that the three existing restaurants serve more than 300 meals a day.
