Forn Gil is taking over the space at Carrer de Pujades 173 in Poblenou that Forn Cruixent left when it closed on 31 July after 14 years, and expects to open in early October. Fourth-generation baker Gerard Gil runs the business, which traces back to 1891 in Reus and has been baking in the Clot since 1971.

The new shop will be takeaway only, with no seating: bread and pastries, more savoury options such as focaccias, Mallorcan-style sandwiches and ham-and-cheese made with good ingredients, and specialty coffee to go. It'll join the family's four other Barcelona shops, on Navas de Tolosa, Bofarull, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and at Espai Moja.
