El Corte Inglés Diagonal has reopened its Club del Gourmet on the fifth floor: more than 750 square metres of gourmet shopping, around 500 Catalan products and a bar where chef Jacky Duclos cooks meat and fish over embers.
El Corte Inglés has moved the Club del Gourmet at its Diagonal store, where Avinguda Diagonal meets Plaça de Maria Cristina, from the semi-basement up to the fifth floor, and turned it into a market and a place to eat. The new space covers more than 750 square metres and stocks over 2,500 products, around 500 of them Catalan, including wines and sparkling wines from Catalonia's denominations of origin and names like Casa Cacao, Bubó and the Roca brothers.
The bigger change is the bar. It seats 75 inside and around 80 on a terrace of more than 150 square metres, roughly 160 people in all, more than five times the old space. Chef Jacky Duclos leads the kitchen, where a Josper grill cooks meat and fish over embers, from a menu of 72 dishes that includes a burger, seasonal burrata and a T-bone. There's an oyster display too, and you can take products off the shelves and have them prepared to eat at the bar.
It opens at 9am Monday to Saturday, closing at 9:30pm until the end of September and at 9pm from 1 October.
