Circolo Popolare opened in early December 2025 at Passeig de Gràcia 44 in L'Eixample, on the former Citrus restaurant site, as Big Mamma's second Barcelona venue and the group's fifth Spanish restaurant. The Barcelona run started with Gloria Osteria, which Big Mamma opened on Enric Granados in April 2025.
The over-800 m² space, with a 140 m² kitchen, was designed by Studio Kiki and nods to 1960s Sicily through ten large windows facing Passeig de Gràcia (40 m of glass in total) and roughly 9,000 bottles arranged to create light effects. A custom-built oven combining wood and gas anchors the pizza programme.
The kitchen is led by Big Mamma's executive chef in Spain, Daniele Tasso, a native of Genoa. It runs across 12 cooking stations with roughly 100 employees overall, a minimum of 70% Italian, and around 50 working on the line at a time. The supplier network spans more than 170 Italian artisanal producers delivering twice weekly, including mortadella from Negrini in Bologna and burrata from Salvatore Montrone in Puglia. Signature plates: Neapolitan pizzas, a 600-gram cotoletta alla milanese, arancina siciliana, the Torre di Circolo appetiser tower, Carbomamma served from a pecorino wheel, handmade spaghetti cacio e pepe, a 350-gram rib steak with crispy potatoes and green sauce, and Profiterole alla Napoletana. Average ticket sits around €25.
The room is open Monday to Wednesday and Sunday from 12:45 to 23:00, and Thursday to Saturday from 12:45 to 23:30. Bookings open at 9 AM exactly one month in advance, maximum party size of eight, and walk-ins are welcomed. Tasso framed the project: 'Un refugio, un jardín italiano, de paz y placer para todos los sentidos, que contraste con el intenso bullicio de la ciudad' ('A refuge, an Italian garden of peace and pleasure for all the senses, contrasting with the intense bustle of the city'). Big Mamma was founded in 2015 by Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux and now runs more than 30 restaurants across seven countries with around 2,500 employees.
