Casa Antonio opened this spring at Aribau 152 in l'Eixample, taking over the space that housed Galileo, one of the city's better-known cocktail bars. The project is led by Toni Cano and named for a family member tied to the hospitality trade. The pitch is the classic Barcelona bar-bodega, rebuilt with current standards: part restaurant, part deli, with the wines, conserves, charcuterie and oils on the shelves also sold to take home.

The menu reads like a memory exercise. Gildas, house bravas, ensaladilla with prawns, meatballs with cap i pota, grandma Roser's macaroni, roast-meat canelons, huevos estrellados, and a flan de Antonio with whipped cream to finish. BCN Foodie Guide filed it under cooking 'de siempre': plates and tapas built for sharing.

The room is by Babart Studios, who leaned into the classic-bar vocabulary rather than away from it: a central bar as the anchor, traditional-style tiles, wood ceiling and warm, low lighting, with around 80 covers across bar seating, high tables and longer group tables.

It runs as an all-day house, Tuesday to Saturday with continuous service, set up for breakfast, the vermut hour, long lunches and dinner without a reset in between.
