Roger Viñas is the chef and co-owner of Avenir, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in Sant Gervasi–Galvany that he opened in 2021 with service director Chesco Salrach. The kitchen serves contemporary Catalan tasting menus built around sea-and-mountain cooking and broth-led technique.
Biography
Early years
Viñas trained in Catalan kitchens before launching his own project in 2021.
Career
In 2021 Viñas opened Avenir on Carrer de l'Avenir in the Sant Gervasi–Galvany neighbourhood, with Chesco Salrach as service director and co-owner — the two became friends at their children's school and decided to open a restaurant together. Viñas leads the kitchen; Salrach runs the dining room. The restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand and is built around three tasting menus: a weekday lunch tasting (Tastets de l'Avenir), the 15-course Barra de l'Avenir, and the 19-course L'Avenir.
Philosophy
Avenir's cooking sits in the Catalan tradition translated into a signature register — broths, careful textures, and dishes that pull from both sea and mountain. The format is built around long tastings designed to show the kitchen's range rather than à la carte.
