Natsu is the Japanese chef of Tasca Japonesa Wakasa, the 20-seat family izakaya she has run with her husband Taka since 2009. Currently in its third location on Carrer de Nàpols ('Wakasa 3.0'), the restaurant is widely cited as serving some of Barcelona's best sushi and carries a Repsol Recomendado.
Biography
Early years
Natsu trained in Japanese kitchens before settling in Barcelona with her husband Taka.
Career
Natsu and Taka opened the first Tasca Japonesa Wakasa on Carrer de Nàpols in 2009, then moved to Carrer Laforja, and finally returned to Carrer de Nàpols 287 — hence the restaurant's current 'Wakasa 3.0' name. The 20-seat space is run entirely by the two of them: Natsu cooks (picking fresh fish from the market each day), Taka manages the room and explains each dish to guests. Reservations are notoriously hard to come by. The restaurant carries a Repsol Recomendado distinction.
Philosophy
Natsu's kitchen treats Japanese tradition seriously — fresh market product, careful preparation, and the educational frame of the izakaya format where Taka explains the role each dish plays in Japanese gastronomic culture.
