Luca Pinna is one of two Italian co-chefs at Imprevisto in Barcelona — the surprise-menu restaurant he and Raffaele D'Avico opened with two colleagues from the Michelin-starred Caelis. The restaurant is in the 2024 Michelin Guide and was named Repsol Recomendado in 2025.
Biography
Early years
Pinna trained in Italian kitchens before joining the team at Caelis — the Michelin-starred Barcelona restaurant of Romain Fornell.
Career
Pinna left Caelis with three colleagues to open Imprevisto, the restaurant built around surprise tasting menus where guests don't know in advance what they will be served. He cooks alongside Raffaele D'Avico in the kitchen, with Isabella Vivarelli as head waitress and Alberto Jaime León as sommelier. Imprevisto is in the 2024 Michelin Guide and was newly recognised by the Repsol Guide in 2025.
Philosophy
Pinna and D'Avico cook in symbiosis — each plate nourished by their complementary knowledge and perspectives. The Imprevisto format itself is the philosophy: trust the kitchen, accept the surprise.
